New Town primary school is aiming to raise £15,000 so that it can install solar panels, helping provide a cleaner environment for the future and a great way to teach pupils about energy and climate change .
New Town Primary School is relying on parents and the local community to help raise the money needed to turn the school into its own clean, green power machine. There are three things they say that you can do to help:
- They are looking for volunteers to help sell books of vouchers to friends and families across town. If you would like to sell a few, get in touch!
- Persuade your own workplace to buy a panel on our roof
- Donate some time! From organising a cake sale to running a sponsored marathon, New Town school would love your help. Please get in touch as they are planning lots of fundraising ideas to meet their target!
If you would like to find out more or would like to donate to this project, please visit http://www.solarschools.org.uk/newtown/
What would you do to help those who are homeless in Reading?
The young people in St John’s church spent the evening of Saturday February 4th building shelters and learning about the experiences of those who have to live out on the streets of Reading at night.
The next morning, waking bleary-eyed from their shelters, they helped lead the morning all-age service with Alison Peyton.
